HDTV stands for High Definition television which offers a great resolution when it comes to picture quality, and there are a number of other features that a standard definition television set cannot provide. As far as the features and options are concerned, all kinds of different models offer various features. Some may have more and some less which makes it a complicated task to figure out which one is more suitable for you. Before buying an HDTV it is important that one understands the difference between an HDTV and a Full HD TV.

While the sellers may not tell you this, some high definition televisions are less capabilities and are not truly high def and this is why as a buyer you must be careful and it is required that you do your homework. But when it comes to ultimate quality and optimum performance a Full HD TV is simply unmatched. From display quality to sound clarity, there is a lot of difference between an HDTV and a Full HDTV.

Talking about display quality of a full HDTV, one must consider that a Full HD TV must have a display of 1080p. Only this rating gives the television a full high def capability and makes it a Full HDTV. Anything lower than is not sufficient enough to be termed as a Full HD television set. The display rating is the basis of the concept behind HDTVs. A simple HD Ready or High def television on the other hand has a display rating of 720p which is still good enough to provide a better viewing experience than standard definition televisions.

Another feature to consider is the aspect ratio which for Full HDTVs should be 16:9. This widescreen aspect ratio cannot be lower than this if the television set is to be considered Full HD. Regular HD TVs on the other hand give a very crisp high definition display at 4:3 aspect ratio which is still quite amazing although not quite as fabulous as the Full HDTV. This full screen aspect ratio is an important thing to consider when choosing an HDTV.

What kind of cables the television uses is also has implications. This is important when other devices are plugged into the set. If the television uses component cables or the RCA cables then it cannot give a proper HD images. To get a proper viewing experience of a 1080p quality television set with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the television set needs to be compatible with HDMI cables. Only through the use of these cables can the full capacity of the Full HDTV be displayed.

Blu-ray technology is one of the most popular player technologies available and it is only a Full HD TV display that realizes the true quality that a Blu-ray disc can be viewed. Video playback has never been better! Since Blu-ray players are top of the line when it comes to video playback quality and the Full HDTVs are just amazing for their display quality, when the two come together it gives the consumer the best quality of images and video that can be produced. A Blu-ray player is the only player capable of realizing the amazing images that can be played on a Full HDTV.

Another factor that is important when choosing between a Full HDTV and a regular HDTV is the sound quality. While display is the main reason why HD television sets are bought, the Full HD TVs have the most amazing sound quality to enhance the effect of the video display. With some fabulous options like surround sound and built in speakers, HDTV technology is the perfect partner for producing stunning sound.
